Mother's Day Caddis Hatch on The Madison River, 36"x48" Acrylic on Polycarbon

At the root of my artwork lies this piece. This is a straight up fly cast on the Madison River with the caddis flies flying by at mock two in the wind and being unrelenting in their dance. There was one point in the afternoon at 1:30 where their volume of existence was so great it was a loud, whoooshhh and it was absolutely crazy the intensity they took on. I drove home with a pile of them in my truck. It was a sunny day and allowed for the spey rod to come out. Being right next to the river with the crazy hatch taking place a few fish were caught right off the bank when they would decide to feed on the surface. Notice the subtle change on one side of the painting as the glossy is the early morning and they the later part of the day it takes on a different tone.
