Yellowstone River (Carter's Bridge) 18"x24" Acrylic on Lexan

Getting to the Yellowstone River before the flood season lends itself to a greenish blue tinge to the water and great torrent of velocity. The river had come up about five feet onto the bank since the last time there was a painting made below Carter’s Bridge. Floating down the river and throwing a streamer on the Yellowstone and catching a cutthroat is a rare moment in my experience in between the Rainbow and prized Brown Trout. This painting pushes the shadows and contrast in relation to the clouds going over in intermittent moments and the wind that was ripping down the valley is an indicator to the hard hits on the Polycarbon as well as a reflection of the higher flow.
